I have to say I was nervous after reading countless reviews on shape wear. Many say go up a size and many say true to size. My opinion is, if you are slim and toned, stay with your regular size. However, if you are on the curvy side, I recommend going up a size. I went up a size and still needed help putting it on. I put it on slowly with pulling the legs and waist up and I also had my daughter pull the back up to my bra line. After fastening it, it stays in place and is very soft/no pain and discomfort. It's worth paying the extra money for a quality piece. One more thing, it does shape and lift the butt nicely because the sewing is different in the area of the butt. I have wide hips and a wide butt so this is a good piece for me. I'll buy another one in black.
